In November 2010, Disqus launched a major revamp to the Disqus.com website. This guide is meant to point out some notable changes from the old Disqus (we'll call this version 3, or v3 for short) to the new Disqus (version 4 or v4 for short).
Who is this guide for? This guide is for you if you've used Disqus (as an admin or moderator) prior to the changes in this newest version.
New features
Dashboard
The new dashboard in v4 is a replacement for v3's Overview page. The dashboard gives you easy access to two things:
-
Websites (forums) which you currently moderate or own.
-
Your personal comments and its replies. You can manage, edit, and delete your own comments from the dashboard.

In the older v3, you could access your Comments, Replies, and Subscriptions by going to Disqus Profile. We've removed this part of the website, but all of these features are retained and moved to the newly introduced dashboard in v4.
To access your dashboard, log into Disqus and go to disqus.com/dashboard
Add-ons
Add-ons are premium tools and features that augment the core Disqus platform. Some example add-ons include analytics, single sign-on, integration tools, theme editing, and more.
Add-ons are designed for growing communities that need the best tools and integration available from Disqus. For more information or to purchase, visit the Add-ons page on Disqus.
Analytics
Analytics is an available add-on that gives you a unique insight into your community and its growth. Disqus Analytics lets you monitor trends at a glance, or, if you prefer, dig deeply into detailed data. Features include a snapshot view, activity stats, people metrics, network behaviors, exportable data, trending graphs, and more.

Changes from the old Disqus
Admin and Moderation
The moderation page has slight changes to improve the way moderators manage comments.
The "View Threads" option has been removed from the interface. Instead, you can still close an entire thread by doing the following:
- Locate one comment that belongs to a certain thread.
- Expand the comment and click on "Show comments only from this thread"
- This will do a search filter and display only comments from the same thread.
- You'll now have the option to close the thread in the righthand sidebar.

Navigation and URLs
You may have noticed that the navigation, as well as the URLs (web addresses), have changed. We've made changes to make navigating Disqus faster and more intuitive.
For bloggers and publishers using Disqus, the most important parts of the website is under Admin.
To access the admin for your website directly, you can go to shortname.disqus.com, where shortname is your website's shortname on Disqus. Alternatively, you can login to disqus.com which will take you to your dashboard. From there, you can select the site which you'd like to administrate on Disqus.
Generally, admin pages follow the structure: shortname.disqus.com/admin/<some admin page>/
Account settings
To edit your profile or change your account settings, hover over your name in the upper right side of the page. Choose "Edit Profile". Alternatively, you can visit disqus.com/account
